The Napalmed Soul

The Napalmed Soul was released in 1999 by Chiron Review Press. It can be ordered for only
$9 from me or Chiron Review Press at 702 N. Prairie, St. John KS 67576. Or you can grab it
from a bookstore; the ISBN number is 0-943795-38-9. This book has been described as
"powerful" and "disturbing." Some people cannnot finish it; others cry when they do. It is full of
violence, hatred, blood, and pain. Tough stuff; I think it's a good read, but I'm biased. Try it out
and see what you think.

A Review of my Recent Writing Attempts:
When poetry focuses on the more sinful, cruel, and pathological side of human nature, we
typically refer to it as "dark." I wouldn't describe Scott Holstad's poetry that way. His works are
so violent, angry, and self-effacing that they seem to transcend darkness; they are so engorged
with pain that questions of morality and immorality seem irrelevent. --

A SAMPLE POEM

fuck 'em

i don't bother
hiding my pain
which leads to
a myriad of
responses from
individuals i
interact with
such as the
hardasses
telling me to
get the fuck
over it
or the pityites
trying to
calm and soothe
or the fucking
religious
telling me
their god is
the answer to
everything

no

fuck 'em all
i wear my pain
proudly
like a loud scarf
around some
Manhattan
bitch's neck
and
i hold the leash
of the poodle
otherwise known
as
dead to the world
proudly in front of me
as it takes a shit
on the lawn
of city hall
